On behalf of the team of the Magic Carpets platform, we cordially invite you to the opening of the Superorganism event, which will include an international exhibition, a one-day symposium, and an accompanying storybook.

The opening event will take place between 18th – 19th of October 2024, in Tartu (Estonia), at the Cultural and Creative Center „Aparaaditehas“ [Kastani 42].

The exhibition „Superorganism“ will be open from 18th of October until 23rd of November 2024 in Aparaaditehas. It will occupy various galleries and public spaces throughout the building: Kogo Gallery, Balcony Gallery, Fahrenheit 451 bookshop, AG47 Gallery, Red Wall Gallery, and corridor spaces.

The exhibition delves into the concept of the superorganism, exploring its biological origins and metaphorical interpretations across diverse fields. It features a diverse range of artworks by 25 emerging artists, who have participated in the „Magic Carpets“ residencies in 2021-2024. Their works will range from photography and installations to performances and videos that explore the complexities of collective existence, individuality, and the interconnectedness of human and non-human relations.

The event is part of Tartu – the European Capital of Culture 2024 programme.
